Troubleshooting Help

Post by NanoGoner »

I assembled the USBTiny kit and checked for shorts before testing it by plugging the USB into the PC.

When I plugged it into the USB port, no LEDs lighted, tne main chip got hot enough to fry eggs. Shortly (2 secs),
the red LED lit. I unplugged it immediately. Can you help me troubleshoot this with some guidance on possible causes? It's acting like its shorting the USB 5V to ground through the chip, but I haven't be able to find any connections which might cause that.

There is almost certainly a short somewhere on the board. Would you be able to take a good pic of the top and bottom of the board and post it here?
