V1.0 Works, V2.0 Doesn't -solved

Post by rickyrockrat »

I just received a 2.0 kit today, put it together, but it won't talk to a tiny45. I have a V1.0 kit, so I've swapped my 6-pin cable (since the other end is custom) with 1.0, and both cables work on 1.0. The pins are toggling because it messes with my LCD screen (inputs only) attached to the same ports (I've removed the LCD from the circuit - same issue).

I am connecting to the V2.0 part over USB (green light, red blinks when talking) (AVR dude TRYS to send -vv) but just gives me zeros. The only thing I've added to the kit is a 14-pin socket for the '125.
I swapped the 2313 parts, and the V2.0 part works on the 1.0 Board, but the 1.0 part does not work with the 2.0 board (avrdude can't find VID/PID, no green LED).

I tried removing the '125, but still no dice with the 1.0 chip on the 2.0 board, which I find VERY odd, since it should work (at least to enumerate on the USB bus). I wouldn't expect to talk to the Tiny45, but it SHOULD talk to USB. I checked the clock on the V2.0 board and it is running 12.019Mhz at 930 mV, which matches up with the V1.0 board signals.

I am taking all of this from the schematics V1.0 http://www.ladyada.net/images/usbtinyisp/usbtinyisp.png

and Schematics V2.0 http://www.ladyada.net/images/usbtinyis ... nyisp2.png

Are 1.0 boards still available?

OH!!! I just found it. V2.0 MUST have either have J3 installed OR the target must supply power to IC2 - but don't do both.
