Breadboard + motor issue

Post by yannlossouarn »

Hello !

It seems I have a problem with both the breadboard and standard motor you
shipped (order: #65827). The breadboard seems to have a discontinuity on one
of the +5V rails, and the motor just does not spin, even when I connect its
wires directly to +5V/Gnd. :/ I have a video about the breadboard problem
(skip to 1m50s on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3t_hyU8bU4). Any idea to
explain that?

Bye,
Yann

You asked what happens when I plug the DC toy motor to Vin and Gnd, and I answered that nothing happens, except I feel deceived (to see it does not work). :)

The motor never spins : plugged to Vin/Gnd or +5V/Gnd, and powered by USB or +12V/600mA DC adaptor. :/

You mean to check whether it has been physically damaged? I could tell you without needing a photo : it hasn't. But if you want I can take a photo.

we would check if the wires are soldered well, make sure they arent shorted to the case. its faster to check these things now :)

sounds like you need a replacement motor, email support@adafruit to get a new DC motor

Maybe you can find an arrangement with a European partner (Oomlou?) for sending it ? Shipping would be less expensive and carbon-intensive.
