Hi,
I have a brand new Arduino Uno board from the Starter Kit.
The Arduino Uno isn't being recognized by my Mac. I have attached two screen shots.
Also, the device isn't displaying in the System Preferences -> network
The green on light is lit up and the yellow L light is lit-up .
I've reinstalled the Arduino software. I've restarted my computer.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

Re: Arduino Uno won't connect to computer - mac
Fire up System Information and head down to the USB pane. Your UNO (when plugged in) should show up under an incredibly helpful name like 'Input Device' or something similar. If you aren't sure whether you're seeing it, unplug it, press CMD-R to refresh the hardware display, and look for anything that's changed.
Have you tried using a different USB cable? Sometimes the problem isn't the parts at either end, but the thing stretching between them.

Thank you for the reply.
When the Arduino Uno is plugged in, a new device does show up. It is called ATmega16u2 DFU.
What do I do next?
Thanks

Hmm looks like the serial converter chip is not working well. Easiest thing is to get you a new Arduino for now, email support@adafruit with a link to this thread and your order #
it *is* possible to repair the chip with a DFU burner if you need to get this running ASAP
