Potentiometer in starter pack

Post by forbajato »

While waiting for future lessons (so far they have been great!) I have been looking over the other components in the starter pack.

The potentiometers have what looks like the resistor symbol with a 1 on one end and a 3 on the other. I assume the resistor symbol is because the pot varies resistence, do the numbers mean anything? Should this impact where I connect the potentiometer (i.e. to the 3V output instead of the 5V output)?

the "103" is the value of the pot, ie 10 * 10^3 = 10Kohm
