Quick question extremely new to this.

Post by Daimones »

If I start using an arduino can I use that to program all of my AVRs or do arduinos work differently than just a normal programmer?

My assumption is that Arduino is just an extension of a programmer, so you can do more than just program...enlighten please?

the arduino is a development board with a bootloader program already loaded in its flash memory so that it is able to program itself. as shipped it can not be used to program another chip. it can however be programmed to be a programmer. i have not done this myself, but there are posts somewhere on these forums that discuss doing this.

Ah ok, that makes sense. I have have to poke around and see what I can find about making it into a programmer.

Or just buy a programmer =d

Thanks
