10K Pot problem

Post by njaldwin »

Hi,
The 10Kohm potentiometer in my kit is not working right. I hooked it up to my multimeter and it read 0-10Kohm as I turned it, but if I let go of the knob, it returned seemingly random values, going from 4 to -10 to 30 etc. It displays similar unpredictability when connected to the Arduino. Yes, I know how to use a multimeter, and yes, I have checked with different Arduino pins. I contacted adafruit and was told to post here. If it is truly malfunctioning, which I believe it is, I would like to get it replaced.

Thanks

Ladyada asked me to post here, but if I get no replies other than spam, I'll probably just email her again.

The 1K works perfectly, both on the Arduino and when I test it with the multimeter.
