I purchased the ssd1331 oled screen after I saw the lego tutorial using that screen on your site. I wired it up to my arduino and the screen is extremely dark. The test program and the bitmap program both worked (no errors in the serial monitor) and displayed, but the screen is too dim to see unless it's in a dark room with no windows. My assumption is that the screen ought to be significantly brighter. I checked the wiring twice now, and it looks to be right. I hit all the solder points on the terminals again, and they are good joints. Do you have any idea why the screen might be that dark? Is there a problem with how I'm setting it up, or is the screen maybe just dead on arrival?
Thanks for the help,
-Clayton

OLED displays are pretty bright when working properly. Can you post some photos showing your soldering and connections?

Your soldering looks excellent. And the wiring looks correct. Since it seems to be working fine otherwise, I suspect that the on-board boost converter is just not boosting the voltage enough to properly drive the LEDs.

Re: OLED screen ssd1311
Hi to everybody. I've just bought this display and I've encountered the same problem. Is there a solution to post here or I have to contact the support directly by mail? Thanks!

Arduino is supplied with 9V and 200mA external power. I've tested all the connection and the solderings, all goes alright, the voltage at vcc is at the right value of 3.3V. When I start the arduino, the display shows the various screens as programmed in the test tutorial.

Another non focused photo during the display work.

Re: OLED screen ssd1311
You have some cold joints there and several with insufficient wetting of the solder pad. Take a look at this guide to fixing some common soldering problems: http://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-guid ... n-problems

Solder looks good, and the connections appear to be correct. Contact [email protected] with a link to this thread for a replacement.

Re: OLED screen ssd1311
I have the SSD1331 that doesn't want to show anything on the screen. I can hear a high pitched tone when I put my ear up to it as it changes the screen from display.fillScreen(WHITE) to display.fillScreen(BLACK), but nothing shows up.
I've attached a photo of my soldering and my circuit (I was using Adafruit's ribbon cable before going directly to the breadboard in case the cable was an issue). Please let me know if you think it is my joints or if it's the device itself.
Thanks very much,
Gabriel
