MCP23017 Not Working

Postby Rahatmaini » Sat Feb 16, 2013 10:51 pm

The MCP23017 16 pin I/O expander does not work properly. I have followed the datasheet and the instructions in the example code on Github, but the chip does not do anything except turn on like 3 pins HIGH, and only one should be HIGH. This is weird. Can not even bring it to LOW. All connections are fine, I have orientated the chip so I can read the label on it. According to the datasheet, I have done everything right (I hope).

Please Please please help, this is urgent.

Thanks a lot

False Alarm, had it plugged in the wrong way. I am stupid.

Does this mean that now the chip is useless? I had it flipped the way it is normally supposed to be, with that semicircle indent on the bottom not the top. Do I need to buy another one now or will this still work (I havent had time to try it yet)?

:D

Plugging in in backwards should not have damaged it. But there's only one way to know for sure! :D
