First, try connecting with another USB cable. Sometimes that does the trick.

If not, what operating system are you using?

Does anything change in the Device Manager when you plug/unplug the Flora?

I didn't ask if you'd installed the driver. I asked if anything shows up in the Device Manager when you connect and disconnect the Flora. That's a debugging step that gives us information about the state of the firmware and bootloader.

If the Flora's bootloader is corrupted, your computer will recognize the Flora as a basic USB device but won't be able to do anything with it. If the firmware is corrupted you might see a raw device ID. If there's a hardware fault, you won't see any change at all.

We'd like to nail down the nature of the problem and provide you an immediate fix if one exists, rather than making you wait for the shipping time that comes with an RMA. If the hardware is indeed beyond fixing, we'll get you a new one.

Okay, that sounds like a hardware fault. Send a message to [email protected] with a link to this thread and they'll get you a replacement.

Hello, I am having the same issues, except when I connect the Flora device, it does recognize that something is plugged in, but i gives this error in Device manager "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).

It was working well before, but I had to unplug the board to install some NeoPixels. Once I tried plugging it back in it began giving me this error. Since then I have disconnected everything, and it is still giving me this error.

Try deleting the driver and COM port, then reinstalling from scratch. It's possible that the port didn't get shut down properly when you disconnected the Flora.

H, I have a similar issue;
I have 2 Flora's and 1 works fine and is appearing as it should be in the Device manager as COM3, I can upload to it as I should.
The 2nd one does nothing when I plug it in, however, when I push the reset button on the flora the computer recognizes it and puts it on COM4 and then disappears again once the reset process is complete. I can't upload to it or do anything.
Any ideas how to rectify this?

Thanks

Update

I found the solution eventually on another forum topic below.
http://forums.adafruit.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=38847

From Arduino program press upload and whilst compiling, I pressed the reset button and it uploaded the sketch and also now recognizes the Flora on the COM port again.

So all good....... I was in panic mode for a while there....
