New issue with VC0703 camera- image does not change

I've run into a new issue with my testing of the VC0703 that I bought.

I must have done something to the camera, and am wondering if there is a 'master reset' i need to be aware of. The issue is that the image being stored does not change; I have reverted back to the original example sketch from the Adafruit library ( adding the line #include <SPI.h>; )

I tried also adding " cam.resumeVideo()" but that did not solve it.

Any suggestions will be welcome.

What do you see in CommTool? Does the image change there?

A "master reset" would be a power-cycle. I don't think you can change any of the firmware settings

Life is never easy.

I am running on iMAC; but I also have VMFusion and tried the CommTool on my virtual windows machine. Arduino IDE works, sketch uploads, but when I connect commTool to the same port as the Arduino ( i see the LED flash, so I know it is connecting or trying to) and initiate "get version"; I get message "CMD Timeout."

If I open the serial window in Arduino IDE and then try CommTool, I get message that port is already used..so it must see the comm port.

My last hope is to try all this again on my Windows SurfacePro, but that will be tomorrow's exercise..it is late .

Update: tried same sequence on my Surface Pro (windows 8.1) and get the identical behaviour that I got on my virtual Windows XP.
