Piezo wiring question

Post by clarkj »

Piezo sounders are "outside my expertise", and so I'm a bit confused.

I recently purchased a 1739 piezo element to include in a project. The product page for this refers to the Arduino tone tutorial, but that shows an 8 ohm speaker (rather than a piezo element) with a 100 ohm resistor in series. My question is do I need to have the series resistor with the piezo element? (Or should it be some other value than 100 ohms?)

BTW, I will be using an Arduino for this project, so the tutorial is appropriate in that respect.

You do not need a series resistor for the Piezo element.
