Hello Adafruit,
I received the mini thermal printer starter pack (product ID: 600) from you guys and want to try it out.
However, my problem is exactly the same as the one mentioned in this thread:
http://forums.adafruit.com/viewtopic.ph ... er#p290313
I would restate the symptom as well:
- Powered on the printer; Green LED stays on solid for almost one second and then started blinking in regular interval
- I pressed button and the paper got rolled out for about 1-2mm with nothing printed on it
- If I pressed it again, it would rolled another 1-2mm of paper out with nothing on it
Things I've tried:
- Used a different power supply with the same rating
- I've noticed the paper orientation problem mentioned in the above thread, so I tried both orientation to load paper into the bay but problem stays: paper rolls out 1 to 2mm each time button's pressed but with nothing on it
What is the problem? Is it a faulty unit?

If you read to the end of the thread you linked, the problem was that the thermal paper roll was in backwards. Double-check to make sure you have that the right way around.

This picture shows the right orientation that paper should be loaded correct?
I also tried this orientation in the thread mentioned:
But still prints nothing.

Re: Mini thermal printer test page problem
that is incorrect, it should be just like the first photo! try the push-button-down-while-apply-power to get the startup print test, make sure the green LED is blinking once in a while, etc.

Wow, that did the trick! Test page got printed! You have to press and hold the button before applying power.adafruit2 wrote:try the push-button-down-while-apply-power to get the startup print test
Thanks a lot!
