Green LED does not flash

Post by Alan3d »

The green LED did nothing when I got to the test step.
I continued anyway and finished the board.
I went over my soldering and to my eyes at least it all seems to be OK.
I cleaned between the traces just to make sure.
I used both rechargeable batteries and then fresh alkaline batteries.
Could the chip be bad? Is there a way to test it?
Thanks.
Can you help please?

if you build a kit and it does not work half-way, do not continue. it will not magically fix itself, and it can be harder to repair

post a photo of the component side of the board

resolder all your components
we see many of them are not soldered completely

I redid all of the joints with the same result. Nada.

Is the IC in the socket around the right way? Are any pins bent up underneath instead of in the socket?

I IC socket is in the correct way and no pins on the chip are bent.
I got a new chip in the mail today and it still does not function at all.
No green blinking green LED when batteries are inserted or when button is pressed.
Please advise.
Thanks

I agree that something else is wrong.
I was pretty careful during assembly following instructions.
You can even see from the photos that the LED orientation is correct.
Do you have any other ideas?

Q1-Q4 are all labeled:
PN
2222A
A28

Q5 is labeled:
PN
2907A
A13

I think that's correct according to the parts list.
