Affect of adding the resistor for European TV's?
I just finished the kit. It works great on an older TV, but has no effect on my newer plasma screen TV. Will adding the extra resistor add new codes to the ones already programmed for North America for possible use with newer TV"s? What would happen if a switch was used to place this resistor in and out of the circuit? Would that add more functionality?

you could use a switch but if it doenst work on your tv then it may be a new code that is not in our database.

What does this last resistor actually do? I'm in the UK, but only have two resistors in the kit. Will this make a difference?

Installing a 10K resistor in R3 signals the microcontroller to use the EU code database.

You can contact [email protected]. Reference this thread in your message.
If you are in a hurry, you should be able to find one locally at an electronics store such as Radio Shack UK or Maplin. What you need is a 1/4 Watt 10K Ohm resistor.I'm in the UK

actually, you can just use a piece of wire the resistor!
