no need to look at a scrematic, you can see the outer traces and where they ought to connect

It works, Kind of. The kit works to turn off TVs but it also turns them back on. I don't know if Version 1.2 is supposed to do that.

The students soldered the jumpers to the IC from the oscilator today. After that, it began to work. Unfortunately, they ran around the school turning on and off TVs which did not look good for me.

I'm uploading a picture of the remote in the mint can they mounted it in.

Thanks for all the guidance and answers on this one.

 What did you expect the students would do?

Anyway, the TVs turn on again because the TV-B-Gone spits out many codes, some which work for more than one brand of TV.

So if there are 2 codes which will work, one will turn the TV off, and the next one in the list will turn it on again.

Exactly what they did Agent 24! Its just a little nerve-racking to have to chase them down knowing that I'm a first year teacher and all eyes were pointing at me! I'm just going to wait til dismissal today to give it back to them. They can do what they will in public on their own!
