Need help finding short...

Post by ubestbsteppin »

I need help finding a short in my PCB. The battery holder starts to heat up as soon as I put the second AA in. Within seconds it's smoking. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

There is a lot of flux residue around the battery lead solder joints. Check carefully there for any solder bridges to adjacent traces.
Post a photo of the front as well. Re-check your component placement.

Thanks. Doesn't appear to be any of solder bridges. Attached is a picture of the top of the board.

De-solder one of the battery leads and try again. Make sure there is no short in the battery holder.
