I get most annoyed by TVs in restaurants. Looks like an interesting product to me. However, I would use it probably only in China and therefore will encounter local brands such as Konka, Haier etc.
Just in case they use their own code, can I add this code in the firmware myself? How and where?
And how do I get the IR code? (obviously with an IR decoder I guess))
How do I add new TV codes? And how to get them?

If you have the remotes for those TVs, you can read the IR code with the help of an IR sensor like http://www.adafruit.com/products/157.
http://www.ladyada.net/learn/sensors/ir.html talks about how to use that sensor and an arduino to read in codes.
http://www.ladyada.net/make/tvbgone/design.html talks about how to add new codes to the firmware.
