I purchased a TV-B-Gone kit, v 1.1. It came with a 10-pin socket and a
circuit board with a space for a 10-pin socket. But the online instructions
don't talk about a 10-pin socket; they talk about an 8-pin socket, which my
kit didn't include. Am I looking at the wrong instructions? Or do I need an
8-pin socket and a different circuit board? My kit did come with an 8-pin
microcontroller. In fact, it came with two of them.
v 1.1 came with 10P socket but no 8P socket

Was this purchased from Adafruit? Post a photo of the circuit board so we can see what you have there. It came with a 10-pin socket and a
circuit board with a space for a 10-pin socket.
