TV B Gone not making it by first test

Post by mgalimbe »

hello,

I've gone as far as inserting the microprocessor and testing by inserting 2aa batteries and checking that the green led light flashes, well it doesn't... chip is in right (socket was soldered in place using the outline on the board)triangle is on the side with the indentation on the socket, led was soldered with longer pin in the + terminal and i know the batteries are good.
I also pushed the button just in case i had an older version.

any ideas on whats going on. all my solders look good....

Mike

Try re-sizing them to about 800x600.

It could be the lighting, but the solder joints on the chip socket look a bit "frosty" like a cold joint. Re-touch those with a hot iron so they are smooth and shiny. If it still doesn't work, contact [email protected] with a link to this thread and ask for a replacement TV-B-Gone processor.

hello,

just updating this post per the request of support. I was shipped a new chip and installed it but it still wont work. I'm wondering if it may be the board.

Can you post photos of your re-worked solder joints?

You installed the oscillator where the PNP transistor should go. Install it right next to the micro-controller. Do that, and it should work.
