LED not working?

Post by silasdkdkdkdk »

I just finished my tv b gone kit :D.
But one of the LEDs are not working?!
Whats wrong?

Edit : the white foam on the backside is from the sticky paper that comes with the kit.

Looks like possibly some cold-solder joints there. Re-work any that do not look smooth and shiny. http://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-guid ... n-problems
Also double check your transistor placement. Q5 should have a different number than Q1-Q4.

Q5 is a PNP transistor. Usually marked PN2907 or 2N3806.
Q1-Q4 are NPN transistors - usually marked PN2222.

A common error is to mix them up since they usually look identical except for the markings.

It could be either the led or the transistor. We could flip a coin, but since the parts likely cost less than the postage we'll just send you replacements for both. I'd replace the LED first, since it is a little easier. If that doesn't work, you can do the transistor too.

Contact [email protected] with a link to this thread and ask for a narrow-beam IR led and a PN2222 transistor for the TV-B Gone
