Green LED mandatory?

Post by jw40 »

In which our hero humbly exposes himself and asks the question he's embarrassed to ask.

I have royally damaged my green LED and the part of the PCB where it's soldered into place (REV 1.2). I can tell that the IR LEDs are working (but not flashing: always on), so…

Is the green LED necessary for the microcontroller to function normally? Or, is it just an activity indicator? The schematic seems to suggest the latter, but I'm admittedly unsure and want to double-check.

**edited to (hopefully) clear up any misunderstandings about my self-deprecating sense of humor.

Just an activity light. You don't need it, except to know when the batteries are dead and the TV-B-Gone issn't working.
But you'll know that anyway, because the TV-B-Gone isn't working.
