Here is my design. I added two additional transistors for a total of six leds. The green led comes on when the red power switch is flipped and the red led is for the status.
I'm using 3 AAA's. I planned on using 3 AA's but it didn't fit with the case I wanted to use.
Hope you enjoy!

impressive
Very impressive build!
I should have switched to AAA as well, it would have fit much better.
Just got another kit and waiting for my tri-wing screwdriver to arrive.
Next case? Game Boy Color. AA Battery compartment already on case, and I plan on hacking a game cartridge so the IRs shine out the top. Should be very nice when done. Will use the existing power switch to bypass the battery and of course A will "fire" in real life

both, I bought a kit and built it. After seeing just how simple it was, I decided to build my own. I bought the parts from mouser. I ordered an extra micro controller when I bought my kit just in case.jasonx wrote:excellent work
did you use the kit components and add extra led's ect: with your own board ?
or did you build it from scratch
