Heya,
I've been loving the TV-b_Gone kits for over a month now. Mine was so popular with my friends that I have built over 5 of them now (not a huge number i know)
Anyways, heres my big question. The little chip holder (i'm drawing a blank on the name) for the flash memory, is it possible for the board to function without it? That I mean, if I directly solder the chip to the board, will the whole thing still function properly?
I ask this because i am experimenting in hiding the device in common items. I do not want to go into too much detail because I want to show you guys my finished project when I am done.
thanks,

The socket you mean? Yeah, its perfectly fine to do without that. Just need to be slightly more careful not to overheat the chip. I'm pretty sure it is just there so that you run no risk of overheating the chip while soldering it in, and also so that you can easily remove the chip if later you want to reprogram it with more codes.
