When powering Arduino board and servos or motors from the same power source in traditional way the Arduino often restarts because of voltage drops, coreless motor noise, etc. But it's not convenient to have 2 battary packs on mobile device...
Does anyone have experience to power both electrical motors and Arduino from the same battery, using some DC-DC converters, or filtering capacitors, or smth. else?

Re: Powering Arduino and motors from the same source
if your power supply is very good and you have a very large capacitor say maybe 2200uF and a large choke, then you'll probably be OK
however, i've found that for most people its very difficult to spec and source an appropriate power supply and provide good filtering so i suggest just going with 2.

ladyada, what do you think about these 2 variants with 7805 voltage regulator (VCC to Arduino and VSS to motors and servos, probably to servos also using 7805 or smth)?
Or because of common ground there will be noise on the digital part anyhow?

youd probably want the big cap on the 5v side
