PICAXE

Post by Professor808 »

Has anyone used PICAXE microcontrollers? I purchased two 8 pic microcontrollers of PICAXE and am now wondering if they are as good as any of the other microcontrollers out there.

Perhaps posting to a picaxe forum would have gotten a better response.

They're PICs with some core libraries or os or interpreter or something, aren't they? Sort of like if Arduino had put all the core functions inside the bootloader section and only downloaded the sketch files themselves... I've heard lots of good things about them, but I'd rather stick with a more standard language...

I have programmed hundreds of programs using Picaxe 08M2 and 14M2 chips. The are easy to program with free compilers. Programs are in BASIC language with some powerful special instructions. I myself was here looking for a small receipt printer to use with my PICAXE microcontrollers. The baud rate needed might be a factor though.
