Impact of termperature and voltage on thermal printing

Post by jasbirs »

I am a newbie to the thermal printing. I wanted to know how does temperature and voltage impacts the thermal printing process? What (if any) corelation exists between printer diagnostics and the temperature and voltage paramerters?

Thermal printers work by heating elements in the printhead to change the color of the thermal paper. The ambient temperature will affect how much power is required to heat the printhead elements to the critical temperature. The voltage measurement indicates how much power is available. (Actually, current is the important factor here, but since the printhead elements are resistive, a drop in voltage can be correlated directly to a drop in current.)
