arduino cnc, help

so, i can make stepper motors dance
but can i make them sculpt
i want to make a 1foot square small cnc with the small steppers and arduino but i havent been able to find anyone thats done this and i have no idea where to start programming wise

Go to http://www.rrrf.org .

Check out the forums and look for threads about the McWire reprap. Reprap is a 3D modeler and not a CNC machine, but you should get an idea about the mechanics and control. They are similar. There are also a number of boards and kits for sale there.

Check out Don Lancaster's flutterwumper library: http://www.tinaja.com/flut01.asp

He likes PIC processors, but the concepts should apply equally well to arduino.

interesting, great ideas .. i may fall back on just a circuit board drilling machine.. that im pretty much sure i can do.. tell it where to drill a couple hundred holes.. im not giving up on a cnc though and the rig shouldent be much diffrent... ill post some pictures after i get building
