how many times can you re-program a 328 before it won't anymore?...been searching for an answer

Your success would depend largely on what term you searched for and where you searched. I searched the datasheet for "reprogram" and found the answer in section 7.2. It turns out that "endurance" would have been a better search term since you get the answer right on the first page of the datasheet.

yes go to the datasheet from atmel on the atmega.

ha, i want more toys....maybe get buried with a arduino datalogger to keep a tab of my decomposition for later science use
