newb question re LED

Post by cag »

I bought a pack of the superbright IR LEDS - the Everlight IR333-A - that Adafruit is currently selling.

I was thinking I could connect it like the other LED's I've been connecting, but apparently not. This will be on the 5V configuration - could somebody point me to a simple layout of what I'm missing? I mean - just a steady state + and - whatever needs to go between it instead of the resistor I typically use.

Thanks!

A

those guys draw a lot of current. you'll want a transistor to drive them. check out the schematics for the tv-b-gone.
