internal temp reads 0
We hooked up a MAX 31855 temp shield directly to an Arduino Uno board with a TMP36. We uploaded the code from our library and checked our serial monitor readout. We're getting an internal temp read is 0. Any thoughts on getting this to read correctly?

Can you please provide a few more details?
Are you using the MAX31855 breakout board? This is designed for use with thermocouples, not with the TMP36.
Please post detailed photos of your wiring and soldering

We have the thermocouple hooked up to the MAX31855. This is then hooked up to our Arduino. Sorry for the confusion.

Please post pictures of your wiring and closeups of the front and back sides of the MAX31855 breakout.

Re: internal temp reads 0
Now when we bring up the serial monitor it reads
Internal Temp= 0.00
C= 0.00
F=32.oo
What could be causeing this to happen?
Internal Temp= 0.00
C= 0.00
F=32.oo
What could be causeing this to happen?

Hi Niwotjoe,
Adafruit Support will try to assist you if you let them.
Are you unable to post close-up photos?
John
The vast majority of this kind of issue is poor soldering.niwotjoe wrote:What could be causeing this to happen?

Thank you John, we think you are right about the soldering. We are going to try agian, this is our first time. And we could post close - up photos, but it would take us a few days
