TSL2561 and ADA Datalogger Shield

TSL2561 and ADA Datalogger Shield

So im utterly confused. I understand you can't toss a 3.3 or less i2c device on a 5v buss.. Per ADA's Page "If you want to use this sensor with a datalogger that uses the DS1307, remove any/all of the pullup resistors from the DS1307 SDA/SCL pins. " Per the Schematic thats R1 & R2 of the Data-Logger Shield. I pulled those parts off the board and looked at the line with my scope, Its still high at 5v. Am i missing something?

there is a very weak internal pullup, its not dangerous, continue the project

No Smoke and I was able to communicate with it... Thanks... Might could note that somewhere to "idiot" proof it more...
