I purchased an Arduino Uno, r3 from Adafruit. When I have tried to upload a sketch I get this error:
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
After that the IDE can't recognize any Arduino Uno boards, even ones that are known to work.
I am a Mac user and checked out the DFU reprogramming hack, but I can't acquire the appropriate X Code version for my mac without and being a paid developer or an expensive OS upgrade...ugh.
Under System Profiler, USB sheet the Atmel chip lists the version as 0.00. Could that be the problem?
Is there a way to repair this without spending more money?
All my other boards work just fine after I restart the IDE on a "good" board.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
John

Re: Arduino won't upload program
Was this board working previously?
Try a different USB port and/or computer if possible. Cables can also make a difference.

Re: Arduino won't upload program
I have done both tests: tried different cables and USB ports. Same error message.
Other boards function, indeed, are required to restore function to the USB port recognition.
This Arduino was new, right out of the box.
