Battery pack not working

Postby Marcele64 » Tue Jan 01, 2013 4:02 pm

Hi-
The LED's light up fine when my Flora is connected to the computer. However, they do not turn on when I connect the battery pack to the flora and turn the switch to ON. I have triple checked that the batteries are installed correctly and have even changed the batteries. Still, it does not work.

Do I have a defective battery pack?

The easiest way to check is to test the pack's output wires (or the points where power comes into your Flora) with a voltmeter.
When you void a product warrany, you give up your right to sue the manufacturer if something goes wrong and accept full responsibility for whatever happens next. And then you truly own the product.

When I put the positive lead on the Vbatt and the negative lead to ground on my flora board, my multimeter measures 10.5mv.

Am I doing this right?

Can you post a photo of how you have everything connected?

The battery pack is connected to Flora. I've got the positive lead touching the VBatt pin and the negative lead touching ground.

I tried to upload the photos, but they didn't appear. Hold on. They're too big.

You should be able to re-size them to about 800x600

Hi-
I received the replacement battery pack in the mail several days ago. Thanks - the delivery was so fast. I didn't get a chance to use it until today. I installed the batteries, plugged the new one into my Flora and still, the led's on the board do not light up. My multimeter reads 5.1 mv. I highly doubt that two battery packs in a row could be defective. I'm assuming there's a bad connection on the Flora board. The USB connection works fine.

What do you think?

I agree. Two defective battery packs is unlikely. I suspect there is bad connection from the battery connector on the Flora. Contact support@adafruit.com once more with a link to this thread and ask for a replacement Flora.
