FM Stereo in 1951? My father built the first FM Stereo radio station in Buffalo in 1962. If I recall my ancient history, FM was developed in 1947, but FM Stereo was still very much bleeding edge in 1962. I don't know about 1951 one way or the other, but that surprised me.'ve got a small model of a 1951 Motorola combination Stereo Radio Tuner...

Re: Arduino Uno and Movie files?
Hi Rick,
This is an advert for the 1951 Motorola combo that I'm making a model of. Now that you mention "stereo", I might just have assumed that ... It may only be "HiFi". This is a rendering of what the face plates will look like, they're made of jewellers wax (very small and very thin, except the record player). These will have real wood behind and around them. The tiny 1 1/2" screen will go behind the "TV" opening obviously and I guess the rest will go behind the record Turntable or AM/FM Radio.
Thanks again for all your help, and no doubt you guys will be hearing more from me as I get the computer and start to "put it all together". Cheers Barry

Re: Arduino Uno and Movie files?
The Motorola console is nifty - I've never seen one like that. I've still got a GE modular system from the early 60's. It's essentially 4 equal-sized wooden cubes : 2 speakers, a cube that opens up to a record changer, and a cube that opens up to a R/R tape deck. The tuner/amp is a fifth box of the same width, but half as high.
Did you make the model?

Re: Arduino Uno and Movie files?
Hi Rick,
Depends on what "model" you're talking about.
If you mean the Motorola 20F2, almost; I've milled out the Radio Tuner faceplate and the TV Screen as a faceplate, both of which will be glued onto the front of actual wood. The Record Changer is also milled out and will fit into a cabinet that has all the essential parts made, but not yet glued together. I've found it better to glue things together only when I've got everything else completed and know it will fit inside.
If you mean the model boat itself, yes -again almost finished. It is 4½ ft. long, has twin electric motors, more than 8 interior and exterior light circuits and is fully furnished inside (right down to toothpaste in the head and kleenex tissues in the master stateroom). All the doors open & close, each cabin/room has its own flooring, wallpaper and lighting. When I get the Rasp working (programmed) it will have a full sound system including vintage Radio programs and TV shows as well as seasonal music, an intercom system and engine sounds tied to the throttle. I've got a few more "bells & whistles" planned for it, but they're down the road a bit. I'll be very happy if I can get some of this working in my lifetime!
I've ordered my Rasp Pi and I'm just going through the Tutorials you folks have to make sure I have/order all the pieces to do all of them.
Thanks again for all your help & time, I really do appreciate it. Thanks Barry
PS: Like I said before you'll most likely be hearing from me again as I get lost in this New World of Raspberry Pi.

Wow! Can you make those bigger? the site accepts 800x600 jpgs, or even larger.

That's really spectacular, especially the head. And the tank of rum on the dock is a nice touch.
When you get the TV going, we'll feature it in the Adafruit Blog.

Thank-you. Well we'd better make sure it works then.
By "we", I meant me, by the way.
Cheers and thanks again, Barry

Re: Arduino Uno and Movie files?
Well I got my Raspi today, but I got the wrong power adapter so I've got to wait another week or so to get the correct one. I'll go over to The Source ( Radio Shack) tomorrow to see if I can get a set of adapters that will work.
Meanwhile I bought the Book on Python, so I can read up on that so I know a bit of what I'm doing and not have to ask so many stupid questions.
Cheers, Barry

Re: Arduino Uno and Movie files?
You can power the Pi from a computer with a USB cable. Or, you can use just about any USB charging adapter. iPhone chargers work well.
Did you get the power adapter from us? You want this one: http://www.adafruit.com/products/501
If you bought it from us, just email [email protected] with a link to this thread, and ask for an exchange.
