FTDI cable and Arduino FIO

Post by schmartguy1 »

I was looking at the connections on the fio and the FTDI cable (from adafruit )
They don’t seem to be completely compatible. Why would AREF be involved in the serial interface? Does ClearToSend require being held hi?

PIN - FIO - Cable
1 - GND - GND
2 - AREF - CTS
3 - 3V3 - 3V3
4 - RXI - TXD
5 - TXO - RXD
6 - DTR - RTS

I haven't been able to contact the Fio even with the ZigBee removed. Any ideas?

Have you asked over at sparkfun? They make the fio.

Well, sparkfun does make a fio. so does a handful of other manufacturers. Although they can be a little different from each other. I'm using a ZigBee transmitter which seems to be more demanding than the Series 1 XBee.

None the less, Sparkfun said this connection (2 - AREF - CTS ) is benign because neither are used in the FTDI connection.
They are replacing the FIO so we'll see what that does.
