Thats interesting. Im learning new things about these synths all the time! So how many different transistors were used here? 4?bcbox wrote:2SC1815's were used in some TB-303's. From all the units I've worked on I've found it was used in earlier units, along with the 1st revision PCB (there were two revisions of the PCB).
C1815, C1685, 536 & 945's im aware of so far..
Also, when these different transistors were used, were they the only thing that was different, or did anything else have to be changed for them to work as intended?
Socketing is a good idea when you want to hone the sound of the x0xb0x. My first build, I didn't use hardly any sockets, so changing the odd part was a bit fiddly (I changed quite a few when trying to hunt down a small fault too). So in my second x0xb0x, I socketed just about everything. Only to find that it worked perfectly first time, and I loved the way it sounded without needing to change a thing! Typical..JoergSaunder wrote:Interesting! Thanks for all this feedback so far. I'm thinking of socketing some of the components that have been identified as important for sound and then trying out a few combinations. But before I do that I might just focus on making some actual music with the x0x and stop worrying too much...
I couldn't tell you if that 2SK118O is good or bad though..
Anyways, yes, just use the thing! It sounds good to my ears.
