My kit isnt working.

Post by mmjack »

I soldered together my kit (from ThinkGeek) last night.

I tested it when the assembly instructions told me to test it (after putting in the RCA jack and the prop chip) and it worked fine with output to the screen.

I tested it again just after putting the LED and buzzer in it, that worked too.

But after I added the Ethernet jack and all the resistors for it it has stopped working.

I know it would be hard to work out what the problem is from that info, but can you give me some troubleshooting tips or tell me what I need to do to check if it is actually the Ethernet or if I just cocked up somewhere else without noticing.

Oh, and I can feel areas heating up, but I have no idea how much power it getting to them :?

Thanks for any responses :|

I believe I have found the problem

I'v placed the Ethernet Internet controller the wrong way round. (As opposed to the images on the Ybox2 assembly guide)

I'v tried to pull the chip out (Slightly weakly) I really do not want to damage it. Is there some trick to getting it out or should I just pull it out and hope for the best

Thanks :D
