combined GPS, GSM/GPRS and microSD card shield

Post by 3dotter »

I am looking for a combined GPS, GSM/GPRS and microSD card shield for Arduino. Could you produce such?

The SD card holder could be replaced by a combined SIM - microSD cardholder. The GSM module could be the very small Telit GL865 (see here:
http://www.telit.com/en/products/gsm-gp ... =show&p=93). It can be easily soldered.

I hope you will be interested.

we are interested! in fact we have a bunch of modules on the way (ordered last week) we are testing. we want to make sure we pick a good module, at a good price. there is no ETA yet, its still in a very early phase

Great to hear! By the way the Telit GL865 is dual band, but is able to run python scripts. If quad band is needed it might be better to choose for Sagem Hilo (see here: http://www.alphamicro.net/components/pr ... id~581.asp), but this one does not have the possibility to run python scripts. If BGA soldering is no problem for you, then also the Telit GE865 can be chosen. This has both quad band and running python scripts. I am looking forward to your choice and development.

Hi,
My board don't have the GPS but I think that il very easy add it.

This is a very low cost and simple Arduino GSM and GPRS shield. Iuse the module SIMCom SIM900. It’s the cheaper module now avalaible in the market.
To connect this module to Arduino I make a PCB that include a LM317 some capacitor filter and no more. I performed a GSM library to controll easly the module. The GSM library is a modified version of the library of HWKitchen.
With our version we controll the module throw the pin 4 and 5 (so normal digital pin) and our GSM libray include also the NewSoftSerial, so you can easy control the module, send and read SMS, make call, control the GSM state ecc.

To download schematics, PCB and Library check the site http://www.open-electronics.org/arduino-gsm-shield/
