What available A and D pins are there on the Duemilanove using the GPS Shield when not using an SD card?
Bottom line: Since I am not using an SD card in this project, does that free up Arduino D10-13 for other uses? And if so, do I need to
remove the card slot to use them for something other?
Background: I ask because I am trying to do an "Auto-Helm" project and would like to output the GPS heading to
a 16*4 LCD which requires 6 D Pins and also drive a Servo which requires 1 PWM D Pin. And of now, I am a bit short on available pins.
Research: I checked out the pinout diagram here: http://www.ladyada.net/media/gpsshield/gpschemv11.png
And this is what I think I understand from the diagram:
-D10-13 and D2-4 are used by the GPS Shield. Looks like D10-13 are used for the SD card.
-Pin D10 from the Arduino (CCS) doesn't appear to be connected.
So,
-only A1-5 and D5-9 are available for use.
Is this correct?
Thanks a million! You guys are great!

Re: Not using SD Card: Useable Arduino pins with GPS Shield
Sorry. Do I need to actually remove the 'slot' or just not have an SD card inserted?
Thanks!
Thanks!

just remove the sd card (not sd card holder) and you can reuse those pins
