Wireless network using Arduino and XBEE

Post by tecmage »

Hi,
I have a couple of projects that require a wireless network. I bought a copy of Building Wireless Sensor Networks by Robert Faludi. The text covers building networks using XBEE Series 2 (but mentions Series 1) and Arduinos as nodes. I read the XBEE tutorial on this site and have a question regarding the transmitter node. Instead of using a computer as the transmitter node, can I use another Arduino?

My first project is just building a sensor network. The idea is to build and deploy nodes to read and transmit temperature using TMP36 Temperature Sensors. I want to be able to store temperature data at a central location (SD card at the transmitter node). Once I get that going, I'd like to be able to use a GPS Shield and transmit location data back to the transmit node. Once that is going, I'll use this network for small scale testing and play.

Thanks

Yes, you can transmit or receive from the Arduino via XBee.
