Power Supply Question

Post by Surveyor »

Hello

I'm new here and I have a fairly simple question. I have a motor shield and I've piggybacked a second set of L293Ds because my steppers are right at the top end of the shield's capacity. The steppers I currently have are bipolar, 5.2V, 900mA. Should my power supply have the combined current of the two motors, the combined voltage, or both?

Thanks!

It should be capable of supplying the combined current. There is a slight voltage drop through the L293D's, so a 6v supply rated for around 1.8A to 2A would probably be just right.
