Waveshield with 9v battery supply.

Post by elektrodave »

Hi.
I have a Waveshield with Arduino Uno.
I want to use one press button to activate, by using a switch, two separate sounds.
I would like it to be portable.
So I’m trying to power it up with a 9 volt battery.
I’m using exactly this skecth :
" Play the wave file only when the button is held down and only once (kind of like a musical keyboard) " found on the Waveshield example page.
The pull-ups resistors on the “ Analog in “ is set to HIGH.
When I use it with the USB cable as the power source, it works fine.
When I try to use it with a 9 volt battery, here’s what I’m experiencing;
When i plus the battery the tension on Pin 14 is around 4.96 Volt. I then press the button and the tension start to drop quite rapidly until it reaches the point where there is no more tension at the Pin. Then, obviously, the button doesn’t work anymore since the PIN’s pull-ups are seen as been set to LOW.
Do you have an idea of what is going on?
Thank you.

your 9V is not powerful enough, you'll want a 6xAA battery pack, http://www.adafruit.com/category/44
