Hello all. This should be a lesson in why you shouldn't solder while watching a hockey game. While I was distracted I held the soldering iron on the positive pad of the C4 capacitor on my gps logger board, and fried it. My question is, if I bridge from that point to C3 and to pin 14 on IC2, am I still ok, or should I order a new board?
Thanks for your help
Thomas

Re: GPS logger C4 Burned out
What did you fry? The capacitor, or the trace on the board? Can you post a photo of the damage?
That capacitor is a filter capacitor for the 3.3v regulator. If it is damaged, you will need a new one. If the trace is damaged, yes, you can bridge that to C3 and IC2 pin 14.

I fried the trace, not the capacitor, so I'll short it as described. Thanks!
