Regarding the Wiznet Ethernet modules

Post by doctorwho8 »

Hello!
I have an Ethernet shield as described here http://www.ladyada.net/make/eshield/ . According to the documentation it supports both the Xport and the Wiznet Ethernet modules. It seems I have both the Xport and a Wiznet one, which is this one, WIZ820io which was given to me by the two representatives from the firm on last years Faire.

Does the Ethernet shield support that Wiznet one? Or would it only work with the device shown?

Not surprisingly it turns out that the company has released a set of library updates to support their creation, but I do not know about the shield.

We haven't sold that shield in a few years, due to changes in the modules from both XPort and Wiznet. It may work, but we can't guarantee it. One customer has made his own Wiznet shield using a PermaProto: http://www.adafruit.com/blog/2012/07/10 ... rototypes/
