isp shield

Is there anything that is different about your ISP shield that makes it unable to be used as a AVR ISP programmer? Is there a simple modification that would enable it to do this? The folks at evilmadscience.com have a shield that has the capability to be used as a AVR ISP programmer. Just curious and thank you in advance.

Shouldn't be. The shield is explicitly designed to program AVR chips, and even comes with an unprogrammed ATMega328P.
When you void a product warrany, you give up your right to sue the manufacturer if something goes wrong and accept full responsibility for whatever happens next. And then you truly own the product.
