green LED not on

Post by webdroid »

I am getting no green LED when I connect the shield to a new ethermega.

I assembled and soldered the motor shield as carefully as possible, making sure the various components were oriented correctly. But when I mount this shield (using stackable headers to connect them) the ethermega lights up properly, but the adafruit motor shield green light remains off.

Aside from checking the soldering (which I've done) and making sure the connections between ethermega and motor shield are solid, what other possibilities are there for failing to power up?

I am assuming that the arduino is supplying the power to the shield through the connecting pins so I don't need another power source (but that ay be wrong).

Got any ideas on what to try?

thanks.

If you post photos of the front & back of the shield we will check your assembly.

Do you have the power jumper (next to the external power terminals) installed? To run from Arduino power, you need to install the jumper.

power jumper?

yes... power jumper... that did it. LED is now brightly shining.

Thanks very much for your timely help.
