Read from Datalogger with Arduino

Hello,
I have a project in mind that I'd like to write and read data with the Arduino. I only see that reading is done by external programs like Excel and plotting data, is this right?

if so, What could I use to write/read on the device I want to make?

You can read and write to an SD card with an Arduino. Is that what you're asking?

If you just want data storage, and don't need the rest of the datalogger functionality, you could use one of our MicroSD breakout boards.

Thanks for showing me that alternative. That might fit in a case better with what I want to make. Though shield will probably be good during prototyping of it. What I want to make will be carried in a person in pocket.

Will this be a GPS application? You could use the GPS Logger shield instead of the Data Logger shield.

Or, if you need a display, several of our display products also incorporate SD cards.

Nope not for gps. Just a device to help remind me of when to take medicine and to track when I took it. I have some confusing perscriptions and thought this would be a fun project. I'll look at those displays but they don't seem to be in stock. I was thinking of just using 7 segment displays though.
