Hello the forum,
A stupid question from newbie. I searched the forum but didn't find the answer, sorry if somebody already answered this.
I will need only one stepper motor in my future project, and the motor current seems to be more than 600 mA.
When I solder the shield, can I piggyback both L293D from the kit in one slot and just leave the second slot empty?
Thank you.

Hello,
I have a similar question. Where I live, it is very hard to get the L293D but there is plenty of L293B. Can I piggyback one L293B over one L293D? will that work?
Thanks!!!

The L239B does not have integral diodes to protect against reverse EMF. You would need to add external diodes for protection.
We stock the L239D here: http://www.adafruit.com/products/807
