The tilde notation is how FAT deals with long file names. What OS did you use to write the files to the card? Did they originally have longer names that were shortened to 8.3?

ditto.. Id like to know as well.. (I use the waveshield all the time in my projects), and its always good to read/know about potential errors/solutions. :)

I have never had a problem with naming files so far..

So, to complete this thread...

Using Windows XP, the sound file names were all changed to be exactly 8.3 format. For example, file names that were longer than 8 characters were truncated, but short file names were lengthened to be exactly 8.3. For example, the file name OK.WAV was changed to be OKWAV~1.WAV.
